Litter Survey

Students took pictures before and after lunch to determine the amount of litter generated on campus. Before lunch, the campus was clean. However, after lunch, there was a substantial amount of litter on the ground, particularly around the quad and hallways.

This picture was taken in E-Hall before and after lunch.

This is E-Hall after lunch.

Classroom Recycling

For many years our high school did not have a recycling program. Recently, we received recycling bins from our school district, which are currently being distributed to every classroom. I have a recycling bin in my classroom which is used for paper. I recycle copy paper, printed paper, colored paper and newspaper.

SLWRP@THS

Let's SLWRP!!!

Students and teachers at Tennyson High School are learning the 4 R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot through service learning activities. Our goal is to increase awareness among the Tennyson community about waste reduction and motivate everyone to recycle on campus.

We are fortunate enough to have recycling bins available for every classroom, but that is not enough. We need to educate the Tennyson community to reduce waste and reuse materials.

We can practice the 4 R's by reducing the amount of paper used on campus, reusing materials we normally would throw away for art and science projects and compost cafeteria food scraps for the Tennyson farm.
